10 random things

In an effort to post more, I thought I'd quickly write down 10 random things about my life right now (since it seems more likely that I'll actually finish this in one sitting):

<3 My days are c-r-a-z-y. Crazy is the new normal around here, and it's a good day when I actually fit in a shower and 3 square meals. Laundry? Cleaning bathrooms? You can forget about that. :P Some days, I don't even do dishes (SO GLAD I have someone here to help!). Most days, I feel like all I do is nurse and change and love babies. :) I'm like a dairy farm. As I told Matt recently on a day where we both were feeling incredibly overwhelmed: "We will make it through this!"

<3 Speaking of dairy farm... one of the hardest parts in this journey of ours with the twins has been breastfeeding. I didn't have enough milk initially, and the doctors basically made us supplement in the hospital (wouldn't release without it because Ava had jaundice and they were dehydrated and had both lost over 10% body weight :(). It has been an uphill battle trying to build my supply, but several hundred dollars later (between lactation consultant fees and hospital grade breast pump rental), thank God, they are now getting 100% breastmilk!!!

<3 I'm absolutely in love with my little ladies! No big surprise. ;) They're like night and day, sugar and spice. Ava is expressive and more high maintenance (though nothing compared to Emma), and Elena is my sweet little angel--relaxed, quiet, and easily contented. They eat well and sleep well and are easier babies together than Emma was alone. :P I wuvs them!

<3 Emma is 6 now, and we've basically taken an unschooling method of homeschooling by default. Hasn't stopped her, that's for sure. I am waiting for the day, in the not too distant future, when she'll know more than I. One day, we'll get our act a little bit more together...

<3 Jack is 2 1/2 and quite certain about the fact that he doesn't want to be potty trained. Sigh. I haven't pushed it because quite frankly, I don't have the time to deal with the mess, but one of these days... In other news, he's my comic relief. He loves the little girlies and positively adores his Sissy, aka, Emma. Whatever she does, he is sure to follow. Today, he was a sight for sore eyes in a suit jacket and Emma's blue and white polka dotted hat. I couldn't stop laughing! I am so glad I have a son!

<3 We have had someone living with us for the last 4 months, with only about a 1 week break. At times, we've had up to 3 extra people living with us. It's gone much better than I had anticipated, and we definitely have needed the help. Yet, I long to be back to just us. If only having just us wouldn't result in life being even crazier... ;) My mom is coming to stay with us for a couple of months, and then we'll see if we can manage to fly on our own.

<3 Matt is amazing. During his busiest time of the year work-wise, he's been available to me and the family, thanks to his flexible job that I've often complained about in times past. :P Only recently did he go back to work full time after a 3-4 month "break" (wherein he was still working, but from home, and only part-time while herding kids ;)). His work allows him to be flexible, and it's been such an amazing blessing to have his support and help! He's my hero. <3 Oh, and if you're in an area effected by hurricanes, check out stormpulse.com. ;) Haha!

<3 I can't wait for fall. It's been crazy hot and humid here. :P

<3 The girlies are asleep, and I need to go to bed, but I'm trying to think of one last thing to write about...

<3 I'm quite addicted to Top Chef. And Words with Friends. And Oreos.

Goodnight! :)

new journal

I feel like a bit of a broken record, having given out the link in several places already, but for those of you as of yet uninformed, I have started a public journal for all of my family and kids ramblings (complete with pictures and videos) over here:
